About the Workshop

In today’s rapidly changing education landscape, AI and Canva are no longer just optional digital tools. They are becoming essential partners in designing meaningful, engaging, and student-centred learning experiences. However, the real challenge is not simply using AI to generate content or Canva to create beautiful slides. The real challenge is knowing how to integrate these tools with strong pedagogy.

This session helps educators move beyond tool-based teaching towards intentional learning design. Participants will explore how AI can support lesson planning, learning activities, assessment design, and creative ideation, while Canva can be used to communicate ideas clearly, create engaging materials, and build interactive learning experiences. The session also addresses common classroom pitfalls such as over-reliance on AI, generic lesson plans, weak alignment with learning outcomes, and visually attractive materials that lack educational depth.

Through hands-on activities, participants will redesign a lesson from their own teaching context by developing clear learning outcomes, engaging teaching materials, student-centred activities, authentic assessment rubrics, and simple interactive prototypes using Canva AI. By the end of the session, educators will gain practical strategies to use AI and Canva not as shortcuts, but as powerful tools to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, creativity, and learning outcomes.
